The Two Day Rule

Hello everybody, today we’re talking about the Two Day Rule. The Two Day Rule is something I learned from Tim Ferris or someone else about a month or two ago about establishing habits.

  • The idea behind the two day rule is in establishing habits: if you want to establish something in your routine, you can skip one day, but not two so you can train yourself to follow up on your good habits. [01:24]
  • I like to execute this by using an app called Habit List – it shows you how effectively you’re keeping your habits over time. [01:47]
  • Another app is called Coach.Me, which has a social aspect to it. [02:07]
  • If you combine these two apps with the two day rule, it’s very hard to break a habit. [02:26]
  • The idea you want to instill in your mind is that you’re not going to workout and torture yourself, but that you’re going to be practicing. [03:00]
  • With a practicing mindset, it’s more about getting better in general, not focusing on negativity. [03:15]
