app-store-device-macbook-air-1171-825x550Welcome to another edition of Growth Bites. Today we’re talking about my favorite mac apps. These are free and inexpensive apps I use to stay focused and save time.

  • One of my favorite apps is the Pomodoro Timer based on the popular Pomodoro technique. The idea is you set a timer and go through a task. Focus on working on one thing without any interruptions and do nothing else. After you might spend 5 minutes on a break and move onto another task. [00:50]
  • I try to accomplish 5 or 6 Pomodoros in a day, but my average is more like 1 to 3. Overall, the app helps keep me honest and refines my focus. [02:04]
  • Instead of investing in the Pomodoro app, you can pick up the less expensive Nag app alarm, but it doesn’t have as many features. [02:46]
  • Alfred helps me save time. It works somewhat like Spotlight and I don’t need to keep clicking around to search for folders and other items. [02:59]
  • Droplr helps you take screenshots and can take a picture and annotate it. It automatically uploads and copies a link to my clipboard so I have it within reach. [04:06]
  • Cinch helps snaps my windows and eliminates the need to resize windows. I miss that capability from Windows 7. [05:48]
  • Backblaze runs automatically and backs up files in cloud every day. Once you set it up, you don’t need to do anything else but let it run. [06:41]
